1/ Put my Self first.
Exercise everyday. Eat well. Sleep. This is all about and covered by the DEF reset.
2/ Be patient & kind.
“Everyone has a pebble in their shoe.” (Derek Sivers). Everyone has a point of view, a perspective. It may be wrong. I may not like it. I may not agree with it. Accept that others think differently, act differently, do differently. See it. Acknowledge it. Accept it, then move on from there and act.
3/ Say no.
Avoid sugar, alcohol, social media. Turn down opportunities that may be exciting and interesting. Stay focused on my intended outcomes, my Zone of Genius (Dan Sulivan, Gay Hendricks), what’s most important. Dedicate to the ONE thing (Gary Keller) that will advance me as a person, a teammate, a partner.
4/ Say yes to time with my family.
Time with my wife, time with my son, time with our pets, time with my parents and sisters. We lost a cat in 2025 and that sadness still appears in moments. Yes to the second dog walk at lunchtime. Yes to petting our elderly cat. Yes to visiting the barn and the goats. Yes to feeding the chickens. Yes to time with friends – visits, calls, texts. Be a good friend and be a good human to those closest to me.
5/ Slow is smooth; smooth is fast. (Jocko Willink)
Protect my time. Multi-tasking is a myth. Do fewer things well. Do one thing at at time. Make progress, don’t just push forward. Rise above the frenetic fray of the day. Focus. Rise above.
Best my best Self. Be my best me.
