Why I own $AMZN

My #BCS hopes are for…

… the ensuing chaos if:

  1. ‘Bama loses this week to Auburn (game at Jordan-Hare Stadium)
  2. Arkansas beats LSU this week, then loses to Georgia in the SEC championship
  3. Oklahomas beats Oklahoma State
  4. Clemson beats VaTech in the ACC championship
  5. Stanford loses to Notre Dame.
  6. Boise State wins out.
  7. Houston wins out.

So then what?

Then you have LSU with one loss, then a whole bunch of two-loss teams from the top conferences. Boise would move up, but probably not to #2, and if they did, could the NCAA really swallow Boise in the BCS championship game after taking second place in the WAC?  Houston would be undefeated, but ain’t no way they get into the game.

The pollsters would put one-loss LSU in the title game – a team that didn’t even win its conference division, against who?

  1. ‘Bama with two losses and third in their conference division?
  2. Arkansas with two losses?
  3. Oklahoma State with two losses?
  4. Kansas State with two losses and second place in their conference division?

Could Georgia jump from #13 to #2 in two weeks?  (That actually could happen if they beat Georgia Tech and win the SEC championship game.)

None of this will happen, but some of it could.

About those #UCDavis protests…

People out here jokingly refer to UC-Davis “Berkeley East.”  It’s not, but it sure did try this week.  Bully for those students for taking action and remaining peaceful.  Can’t say I would have been there with them 20 years ago.

A three-post primer:

Yes, it’s unpleasant.  No, not everyone here is really paying all that much attention, but certainly a lot more now than after the 5-6 tents appeared in our Central Park to participate with the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Meanwhile, there’s a whole bunch of people that just wish the rain would clear so they can squeeze in some miles in the saddle.

Attention thieves: Quit stealing bicycles. You're much dumber than us.

Bought for my first sales gig in 1996.  Survived 12 moves in 4 states, plus countless dejections and rejections, with an occasional win sprinkled in.

Replaced for the best chair I could find on sale at OfficeMax.

Andy Reid Lead Requirement

Never underestimate Andy Reid’s ability to blow a lead via a combination of:

– Exceeding a 85/15 pass/run ratio.

– Clock management skills that leaves six-year-olds perplexed.

– A general lack of awareness that a football games lasts two halves.

– Play-calling often mistaken for quantum randomness.

Notice how a 4TD lead at half-time isn’t safe.  The Eagles need to have more than a 2TD lead with under 2 minutes to go before a real Eagles fan can feel comfortable, and at least 2TDs with under a minute to go.

Somehow there’s an application to modeling the housing market… Oddly enough, I think I know what it is.  I’m just not capable of delivering the message.

Should I call back and tell them that all of those big banks and Wall Street rip off artists are my customers?

"This is a message from justice for all the American dream has been betrayed, big banks insurance companies and Wall Street rip us off and send our jobs overseas. The CEOs still get tax breaks and I've seen bonuses and no one is stealing the Wall Street criminals, we need the president in congress to break out the bank monopoly and stop the epidemic of foreclosures, we support the occupied Wall Street demonstrations and justice for all"
